Make Insight Your Priority Proverbs 2:1-5

Proverbs 2:1-5 (The Message)
Good friend, take to heart what I’m telling you;
collect my counsels and guard them with your life.
Tune your ears to the world of Wisdom;
set your heart on a life of Understanding.
That’s right—if you make Insight your priority,
and won’t take no for an answer,
Searching for it like a prospector panning for gold,
like an adventurer on a treasure hunt,
Believe me, before you know it Fear-of-God will be yours;
you’ll have come upon the Knowledge of God.

So why do I want to have this wisdom? I can’t speak for anyone else but me, but I know that it is so easy to get tied up in the present and that microwave mentality and forget what is it all for. Why am I here? I can assure you it isn’t about climbing that corporate ladder, making that mighty dollar or even to put a roof over my head, clothes on my back or food in my stomach. I am here to be a witness to the greatness of God and to share the joy with everyone that I can.

I know it is easy to have someone look at your life and tell you, if only you did such-n-such, than your life would be this, but the truth of the matter is that when you are in the thick of things and you have been trying your best to get that promotion or that job or whatever, and when you have to take that leap and hope that there is something there to catch you, well it’s not so easy.

For example, I feel like I have been on a 2.5 year job interview where I work for this promotion that I would love to have. Finally everything is in place, the application is submitted all that is left is the test and the interview; I have no reason to think that I won’t get the job yet I still end up “borrowing trouble” by worrying that something is going to happen to ruin my chances. I know it’s silly and I can look at it logically and say that

If is is God’s will I will get the promotion and if it’s not then He has a better plan for me,”

But the truth of the matter is that it is much easier said than done.

I believe that with faith and insight into what God is trying to teach us in the scripture is that by HIS GRACE, He has provided access to Him, His wisdom; all we have to do is accept it.

Joyfully yours,
