Who are you…. Really???? This is a question that gets lost in the hustle and bustle of the life that we have lived, are living and hope to live. I don’t know about you, but I tend to measure myself based on those around me and usually it is the people who have hurt me. I am sure that you do the same; take a minute and think about someone from your past, who comes up first? It’s that ex who hurt you or that boss or co-worker that “did you wrong”. But this is NOT WHO WE ARE!
The question that we have to ask is “Has everyone that you have ever had contact with caused you pain?” Of course not, but this is a distraction, do you think that satan wants you to remember that you are a child of GOD? Well, I will tell you that is definitely something that he does not want. Because if you remember that then you will remember that he has no authority over your life and that you have the power through the Spirit of God to rebuke him and send him on his way. It is much easier to keep a disillusioned, depressed, nobody down then it is to deal with a Bible toting, Word of God quoting, child of the King.
So who does the Bible say that you are? Tommy shared several scriptures in his book that are so awesome that I have to share them with you. (Tommy Newberry, Day 8: Stop Identity Theft: The Joy of Knowing Whose you are, 40 days to a Joy-Filled Life, page 45).
- You are important 1 Peter 2:9 (KJV)
- You are forgiven Psalm 103:12 (KJV)
- You are a new creation 2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
- You are family Ephesians 2:19 (KLV)
- You are strong Psalm 68:35 (KJV)
- You are unique Psalm 139:13 (KJV)
- You were created for a purpose Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
- You are victorious 1 John 5:3-5 (KJV).
Wow, and that is only the tip of the iceberg! I think that it is time for you to stop looking at the past because it does not define us and the future is not promised. Live for today for this is the day that the Lord has made, rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 (KJV)
Joy to you,
